Former Buffs Lilly goes pro

Milligan College, Tenn. (Apr. 17, 2008) --- David Lilly, former Milligan College soccer standout, signed a professional contract last week with the Carolina Railhawks. He accepted a two year contract with the United Soccer Leagues First Division team and was invited into the Railhawks preseason camp which began in the spring.

“I am really excited about signing with Carolina and testing my abilities at the next level,” said Lilly. “I've been working hard to get a chance like this, so I'm eager to get involved as much as I can and prove that I deserve the chance.”

The Scottish native has started in all four of Carolina 's preseason matches to this point, including a match-up with the New York Red Bulls of the MLS. He assisted on one goal and helped create a second on a rebound from his shot versus UNC Greensboro.

Buffs soccer beats Brevard

The Milligan Men's Soccer team took a victory off Brevard College in an off-season friendly on Saturday. The Buffs rallied from behind in the second half to come away with the 2-1 win.

This was the team's first outdoor competition under new head coach Adam Laney

“It was a good start for us. We have been working hard for several weeks and it is nice to face some outside competition,” said Laney.

The scoring was opened by Brevard's Niclas Stolt in the 32nd minute after finding a seam in the middle of the Milligan defense and hit a solid shot from the top of the box that found the upper left of Charlie Craig 's (Lakeland, Fla.) goal. Craig recorded four saves in the first half while the Buff's offense tallied four shots.
