Milligan College Head Coach Adam Laney took the helm of the men's soccer program on Feb. 1.
Laney comes to Milligan from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., where he served as assistant director for compliance and academic services. Previously, he worked with Campbell for three seasons as the assistant men's soccer coach. Coach Laney joined the Fighting Camel staff in June 2005 and made an immediate impact, helping direct the top defense in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Campbell defense led the A-Sun in goals-against average (0.98) and shutouts (6) and only once allowed more than two goals in a game. Prior to Campbell he spent three years as the assistant at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
After playing his first two collegiate seasons at UNC Greensboro, Laney transferred to Charleston Southern, where he earned a B.S. in kinesiology and biology. At CSU, he was named to the 2000 Big South Conference all-tournament team.
Laney, who holds a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, has also been involved in Campus Outreach projects in Moscow, Russia and Clearwater, Fla. He is married to the former Audrey Bateman and they have one son, Elijah.
Coach Lilly begins his first season as the Assistant Coach for the Men's and Women's Soccer Programs. Coach Lilly just finished his four year career as one of the most decorated players in Milligan Soccer history. He led the team to its first ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament and finished the year as an All-American, Region Player of the Year, and Conference Player of the Year.
Coach Lilly spent the summer playing for Mississippi Brilla FC in the Premier Development League and was the team's second leading scorer. His main responsibilities will include recruiting and on field coaching.
