Meade announces first five to 2008-09 signing class
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (December 6, 2007) --- Milligan Head Baseball Coach Nathan Meade has announced the signings of Josh Hullett (Knoxville, Tenn.), Adam Lawrimore (Johnsonville, S.C.), Randy Rabon (Rock Hill, S.C.), Shawn Ray (York, S.C.), and Kendall Williams (Dillion, S.C.) to the 2008-09 signing class.
Hullett, a left handed pitcher from Bearden High School, is one of Coach Matt Buckner's top arms for the 2008 season. He has an 8-2 career record and 3.05 career ERA to this point in his career at Bearden. Hullett was selected to the East Region TBCA Worth All-Star team this past summer.
“Josh has great command of the strike zone and will throw three pitches for a strike in any given count,” said Milligan Head Coach Nathan Meade. “Josh is a bulldog on the mound and posses the mentality that coaches look for in young pitchers. His ability to pitch is only out weighed by his character.”
Josh is the son of Carol and Anthony Hullett.
Adam Lawrimore, a 6'2” right-handed pitcher from Florence-Darlington Technical College, is one of the many quality pitchers that Head Coach Curtis Hudson has produced in recent years. Adam pitched in 16 games, starting 10, last year for FDT. He produced a 4-4 record with a 5.28 ERA and posted 46 strikeouts in 61 innings. Lawrimore was also named to the Southern Colligate League's All-Star Game last summer.
“Adam has the potential to accomplish a lot on the mound at Milligan,” commented Meade. “With his big frame and the ability to attack the strike zone with three pitches, we believe Adam can be a dominate force next year.”
Adam is the son of Don and Deborah Lawrimore.
Randy Rabon, a 5'11” outfielder also from Florence-Darlington Tech, is an extremely talented athlete.
“Randy is an elite runner that can hit for power and average. He also possesses a canon from the outfield,” said Meade.
Rabon saw limited time last year due to injury but played in 26 games and hit .281 with a .379 OB% and one homerun.
“We look forward to Randy's arrival on campus next year and are honored that he has chosen Milligan. We look forward to big things from him next year,” said Meade.
Rabon is the son of Sarah Costner.
Shawn Ray, a 5'10” right-handed pitcher, is another quality pitching prospect produced from Florence-Darlington Tech. Ray pitched in 10 games, starting six. He produced five wins and only three losses with a 4.10 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 42 innings.
"Shawn is the type of pitcher that is going to give you a chance to win every time he is on the mound,” said Meade. “He is very athletic, attacks the strike zone, and is a fierce competitor. We look forward to big things from Shawn.”
Ray is the son of Thomas and Piror Ray.
Kendall Williams, a 5'10” outfielder from Florence-Darlington Tech, has produced at every level he has played. Williams was an All-State player in high school at FDT. He played in 44 games and produced a .392 batting average in 130 at bats. He collected 51 hits, 33 runs scored, three homeruns, and 12 stolen bases.
“Kendall gives you consistency in the outfield and in the lineup,” said Meade. “He's the kind of young man that every coach wants playing for him. Kendall gets it done day in and day out."
Williams was also an All-Star participant this past summer in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League and led the league's batting average (.372).
Kendall is the son of Betty Williams.
