King hands Buffs first conference loss

Milligan College, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2007) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team (8-2, 2-1) was handed their first AAC loss Tuesday night against the Tornado of King College (9-2, 2-1). The Tornado beat the Buffs 92-58.

The difference in tonight's game was all beyond the arc as King drained 12 out of their 14 attempts from 3-point range, for a percentage of 86, whereas Milligan only hit 6 out of 19 for a percentage of 31. The Tornado also out rebounded the Buffs 36 to 22, with 26 out of the 36 being on the defensive side.

The only Buff in double digits on the night was junior Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) with 10 points and eight rebounds.

“We just didn't play together as a team tonight,” said Milligan College Head Coach Tony Wallingford. “(King) played together and had a high shooting percentage, and tonight we got beat by a good team.

The Buffs hit the road to take on Bluefield College Saturday, Dec. 8, for more AAC action. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
