Buffs erase Eagles

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 20, 2007) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team defeated the Asbury Eagles away, claim four unanswered goals, to leave the encounter beyond any doubt. The visitors scored two in either half to improve upon their overall winning record of 11-5-1.

A Stuart Makinson (Franklin, N.C.) cross found teammate Josh Stevens (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) in the oppositions area, who hammered the game-winning goal home in the 16th minute. Shortly before half-time Philip Wilson (Middlesborough, England ) connected with a dominant Buffs midfield to score the visiting teams' second of the half.

Out-shooting the Eagles 27-3, the Buffs' team chemistry was evident, and shortly after the re-start the Milligan men scored another to put the tie beyond the reach of their opponents.

Travis Phillips' (Winston-Salem, N.C.) slightly deflected effort found the back of the net after an unassisted strike from distance. The Milligan Buffs' efforts were once again rewarded late in the game when Josh Silver's (Brownsburg, Ind.) strike took a fortunate deflection to find the target in the dying moment of regulation.

“The total team effort, for the total 90 minutes is very encouraging as we approach the conference tournament qualifier,” said Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley.

The Buffs will return home to take on King College, Tuesday, Nov. 23. Kick-off is set for 7pm.
