Buffs beat Bethel

Mishawaka, Ind. (September 21, 2007) --- The no. 14 preseason nationally ranked Milligan College men's soccer team defeated Bethel College 0-1. Josh Stephens (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) scored the goal for the Buffs.

Head Coach Dave Dixon said, “It was a great team performance and a great victory on the road.”

The Buffs defense put on a strong performance to keep Bethel from making many opportunities, which allowed goalkeeper Bryan Newbold (Sylva, N.C.) to keep a clean sheet for the encounter. Kyle Wilcox (Indianapolis, Ind.) put up an excellent defensive effort which controled the home teams offense during regulation.

"The defense continued to battle and stay focused throughout both halves of play, resulting in a team victory," commented Head Coach Dave Dixon.
"The next game on this road schedule will be challenging, but I'm very optimistic after what I saw today from the team."

The men's soccer team will take on Cedarville College on Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Cedarville.
