Buffs drop AAC qualifier
Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2007) --- The Buffs men's soccer team and their army of fans, braved the rain at the home AAC tournament qualifying fixture, but just came up short. The King tornados prevailed by 3-0 on a soggy Anglin Field.
“We're going to have to wait and see how the rest of the draw play's out, but when your tournament future is out-of –your-hands, it's definitely not a good feeling,” commented Head Coach Dave Dixon.
The uneasy encounter remained scoreless for the entire fist-half as both teams knew the devastating outcome of a loss. Following the break however the visitors jumped out to an early lead they would never relinquish. Captain Kyle Wilcox (Indianapolis, Ind.) rallied the Buffs with exemplary play from a defensive role, but the Tornados blew away any attempts by the home squad to tie the match. Two more goals were added in the dying moments of the encounter as the Buffs threw everything forward, leaving the defense helplessly vulnerable. A last gasp shot by the home team, to salvage some pride, struck the post and was deflected wide.
The Buffs now wait for the remainder of the AAC tournament draw to compete to see if they will progress any further.
