Buffs bash conferecne rival Union
Barboursville, Ky. (September 8, 2007) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team scored early and often to blast the Bulldogs of Union College in AAC conference play. The visitors claimed a clean-sheet, and an away win, by a margin of 4-0.
Josh Stevens (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) took full advantage of a Philip Wilson (Middlesborough, England) assist, to head home the game-winning goal in the 15 th minute. The Bulldog defense was caught off-guard minutes later by the same duo when Stevens struck in the 33 rd minute.
The Buffs recent goal drought was history by the half-time break.
Capitalizing upon the momentum of the first 45 minutes Kofi Frimpong (Kumasi, Ghana) and Tyler Ross (Johnson City, Tenn.) added their names to the score-sheet in the 68 th and 75 th minute respectively, to put the game beyond the reach of the home team.
“It was a solid performance and a conference win, which is what we came here to achieve.” commented Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley. “The midfield controlled the flow of the game, which allowed us to come away with a clean sheet.”
The Buffs will take on Bryan College away on, Oct. 13. Kick-off is set for 7p.m.
