Milligan opens indoor seaosn at App. State
Boone, N.C. (Dec 1, 2007) --- The Milligan College men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2007-2008 season with a limited squad at the Appalachian State Indoor Invitational Saturday afternoon at the George Holmes Convocation Center in Boone, N.C.
Leading the way for Milligan was senior Brittany Bales (Kingsport, Tenn.), who recorded a fifth place finish in the women's mile with a personal best time of 5:22.00.
Also picking up top ten finishes for the Lady Buffs were freshmen Kayla Moody (Avon, Ind.) and Chelsea Leavell (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). Moody finished third in the women's 800 meters, while Leavell finished ninth in the women's shot put. Leavell's mark of 37 feet 5 inches was also a Milligan indoor school record.
On the men's side, junior Will Frye (Pulaski, Va.) finished fifth in the men's 3000 meter run, and freshman Michael Kaal (Gilbert, Ariz.) finished fifth in the men's mile.
Both squads will be back in action next weekend at the MTSU Christmas Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
