Milligan volleyball losses to Virginia Intermont
Bristol, Va. (Sept. 11, 2007) --- The Lady Buffs Volleyball team played with intensity in “spurts,” as Milligan College Coach Kim Hyatt put it. The Lady Buffs lost in four games to the Lady Cobras.
The first two games the Lady Buffs played close but could not secure the win. They lost the first 25-30 and the second 28-30. The Lady Buffs rallied when elimination was close and won the third game 30-28. Milligan could not hold off the Lady Cobras in the fourth game though with the Lady Cobras taking the final game of the match 22-30.
Leading the offense was senior Amanda Hyder (Johnson City, Tenn.) with 13 kills, while sophomore Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) had eight. Freshman Erin Biddle (Newport, Tenn.) aided the attack, tallying up 23 assists. Senior Alison Slagle (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman Ellyn Sapp (Johnson City, Tenn.) baffled the defense serving three aces apiece. Defensively Sapp continues to lead the Lady Buffs in digs with 29 Tuesday night.
“We played well in spurts, but they just scored too many points during our lulls,” said Hyatt. “We are looking forward to getting to play at home again though on Thursday.”
The Lady Buffs host Bryan College for a conference match up Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m.
