Lady Buffs win season opener
Williamsburg, Ky. (November 2, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team defeated Brescia University 83-77.
The Lady Buffs had a 13 point lead at half time leaving the score at 46-33. Brescia University came out in the second half and took a one point lead late in the half. However, Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) made two really crucial free throws to give the Lady Buffs the lead back. The Lady Buffs had five players to score in double figures.
Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) made a big basket at the end of the game and the last two free throws to seal the win,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) also played well, but overall it was a great team effort and quality win over a good team.”
It was the Lady Buffs' performance at the free throw line that helped them seal the victory. They shot an impressive 86 percent from the line compared to Brescia 's 50 percent from the line.
The Lady Buffs will be back in action on Saturday November 3, as they travel to Williamsburg, Ky., and face off against University of the Cumberlands. Tip-off is set for 4pm.
