Lady Buffs fall short of victory
Williamsburg, Ky. (November 3, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team marginally was defeated by the University of the Cumberlands, 72-78, after ending the first half in a tie with the Patriots.
The Lady Buffs had three players in double figures. The hometown player Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) scored 17 points and had nine rebounds. Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) also scored in the double figures, finishing with 15 points. Anderson was the second leader in rebounds with six. Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) was the Lady Buffs leading scorer with 18.
The Lady Buffs had pulled within two in the final three seconds of the game but a Lady Buffs three point attempt was off the mark. In the end the Lady Buffs came up short as the Patriots capitalized on their opportunities at the line.
The Lady Buffs will be back in action when they travel to Rome, Ga., to take on Cumberland University. Tip off is set for 5 p.m. on Nov. 9.
