Lady Buffs struggle against no. 15 Cumberland
Rome, Ga. (Nov. 9, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team suffered a loss to the No. 15 ranked Cumberland University 56-81.
The Lady Buffs fought hard in the first half and over came a 16 point deficit to bring the score within three at the end of the first. The Bulldogs were lead by Renee Williams with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Ashley Matthews was their second leading scorer with 22 points.
Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) was the leading contributor for the Lady Buffs with 15 points. However the Lady Buffs saw a double-double performance from Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.). Baughman scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds with 10 of them being defensive rebounds.
“It was a physical game and they had some great performances from their key players,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Our girls played well and fought hard in the first half, but we simply couldn't finish shots in the second half.”
The Lady Buffs will be back in action tomorrow November 10, when they travel to Rome, Ga., to take on Berry College. The game is set to start at 5 pm.
