Milligan College Buffaloes

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Nov. 28, 2007) The Lady Buffs basketball team came out and dominated in their season home opener, as they defeated conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan 78-53.

The Lady Buffs had three players in double figures. Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds. Freshman Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) had a strong performance with a double-double. She scored 12 points and led the team with 10 rebounds. Hometown player Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) put on a dominating performance for the home crowd. Baughman led the team in points with 20 and had 7 rebounds. It was Baughman aggressive play and astounding defense that got the momentum going for the Lady Buffs.

The Lady Buffs performance was dominating as they shot 50% from the field, compared to Tennessee Wesleyan's 29%. The Lady Buffs also shot an impressive 53% from beyond the arc, compared to the 26% of Tennessee Wesleyan.

“The team played well and I was pleased with our defensive effort,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Our offense was efficient and it was a great way to start our conference play.”

The Lady Buffs will travel to Brevard, N.C. to challenge Brevard College tomorrow November 29, and game time is scheduled for 6p.m
