Lady Buffs fall away to Asbury
Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 20, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team suffered an away defeat at the hands of Asbury College by a margin 2-0. The Lady Eagles capitalized on slack defending by the visitors, once in each half, to claim the result.
The rivals traded chances as the first-half progressed with the visiting Lady Buffs starting positively, coming up with two shots in the opening moments. Rosanna Couture (Ontario, Canada) managed to keep the home team at bay with two pivotal saves. Despite the stellar work ethic the Lady Eagles found the target, and the game-wining goal, in the 37th minute.
The home team secured the outcome with a goal in the second-half following a lapse of communication in the Lady Buffs' defense.
“We just didn't have it today,” commented Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley. “Playing yesterday didn't help with any of the injury issues we were hoping to resolve, but we didn't do ourselves justice either.”
Next up for the Lady Buffs is the AAC tournament qualifying round against conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan, Nov. 23. Kick-off is set for 2pm. in Chattanooga, Tenn.
