Lady Buffs tie with top 25 team

Lookout Mtn., Ga. (Sept. 15, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team battled throughout their encounter with the Lady Scots of Covenant College and secured a 2-2 result away to a tough top 25 team. A solid defense led by sweeper Rachael Butz (Seminole, Fla.)  allowed the Lady Buffs' Kristen Crute (Marietta, Ga.) to capitalize upon some slack defending in the 37 minute.

Following half-time Crute was once gain involved in Milligan's scoring when she assisted a Stephaine Bain (Morristown, Tenn.) goal, which found the target in the 56 minute. Complementing the stellar performance of the Butz was Becca Mauldin (Clinton, Miss.) who controlled the midfield and opened up the Lady Scots' defense.

“It's the break-through result we knew the ladies had.” commented Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley. “We've come away with a great result against a top 25 team.”

The Lady Buffs will return home to take on Mountain State Uni. on, Sept. 19. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m.
