Lady Buffs fall to Lindsey Wilson
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Sept. 2, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team fell to reigning NAIA National Champions Lindsey Wilson by a margin of 0-5 Sunday evening at Anglin Field. The encounter was challenging throughout for the Lady Buffs, but playing-time with such tough competition, will prove invaluable during upcoming conference play.
The Blue Raiders' Omolyn Davis opened the scoring account for the visitors in the 14 minute, which would prove the difference between the rivals. Yolanda Hamilton added another just three minutes later which was complemented by teammate SashSheena Stewarts' two goals at the 20 and 28 minute marks.
Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley commented that"the socre does not reflect the increased work ethic and positive performance from the Lady Buffs. Conference play begins next, and this tough contest against the defending National Champions, was the ideal way to prepare for the most important part of the season".
In the 50 minute Samantha Gutierrez ensured the victory for the visitors when she struck unassisted. Milligan's Rosanna Couture (Ontario, Canada) recorded 12 saves while Kara Zutts' (Louisville, Ky.) "work ethic and leadership was exemplary" commented Buckley.
Next up for the Lady Buffs will be their conference opener against Bryan College . Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Bryan. For more information please visit www.milliganbuffs.com.
