Lady Buffs crush Cougars
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Sept. 19, 2007) --- The Milligan women's soccer team took control of the home encounter early against Mountain State University, and dominated proceedings for the entirety of regulation. The final result of 7-0 reflects how well the young Lady Buffs squad has progressed in such a short time together.
Milligan's scoring account was opened by Kristin Crute (Marietta, Ga.) in the 18th minute, which proved to be the game-winning goal. A hat-trick by local stand-out Samantha McClay (Elizabethton, Tenn.) left the Cougars with little hope of a comeback during the encounter. Jenna Zutt (Louisville, Ky.) added her name to the score sheet in the 42nd minute. Soon after the restart Milligan and Jenna Zutt extended the home team's advantage with a penalty kick conversion in the 52th minute. Tiffany Brown (Greeneville, Tenn.) added her name to the game statistics in the 56th minute, to leave the Cougars with no option but defeat.
"It was nice to get the substitutions some time tonight, and everyone did well," commented Head Coach Dave Dixon. "Kara (Zutt) (Louisville, Ky.) deserves a special mention, her two assists don't reflect her overall great game for us, and I'm really pleased with how she performed."
The Lady Buffs travel to Black Mtn., N.C., for another conference match up against Covenant on Wednesday, Sept. 26. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
