Lady Buffs battle in conference play
Black Mtn., Ga. (September 26, 2007) -- The Milligan College women's soccer team traded shots with conference foe Montreat College during the away encounter, but suffered a defeat at the hands of the Lady Cavs, by a margin of 6-3. The Lady Buffs struck early in the encounter when Becca Mauldin (Clinton, Miss.) opened the scoring account for the visitors in the 2nd minute.
Lady Buff goalkeeper Rosanna Couture (Ontario, Canada), gathered 11 saves during the encounter, but the Lady Cavs' persistence was too great for the visiting Lady Buffs. Samantha McClay (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Kritin Crute (Marietta, Ga.) both added their names to the score sheet in the 20th and 65 th minute respectively, but to no avail. The Lady Cavs' offense converted six attempts to put the match beyond their AAC rival.
“We're disappointed about the result this afternoon, but the work rate just wasn't there for us from the start.” commented Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley. “We need a better effort for the entirety. We lacked that tonight, which cost us in the end.”
The Lady Buffs will take on Lees McRae College tomorrow, Sept. 27. Kick-off is set for 7 p. m. in Banner Elk, N.C. |
