Lady Buffs fall to Bryan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2007) --- The Lady Buffs lost three close games at home Thursday night to the Lady Lions of Bryan College. All three games were within two to three points.

The first game went into extra points with Bryan winning by two, with a score of 34-32. The next game was just as close, but this time Bryan won in regulation squeaking by the Lady Buffs 30-28. The final game of the evening was a back and forth battle between the teams, but the Lady Lions ended up sealing the victory 30-27.

Senior Amanda Hyder (Johnson City, Tenn.) had a big night for the Lady Buffs ending the night with a double-double. Hyder tallied 16 digs, 10 kills, and four blocks. Leading with kills on the night was freshman Ashley Welch (Waynesville, N.C.) with 16. Freshman Erin Biddle (Newport, Tenn.) had a big night for the Lady Buffs racking up 48 assists. Senior Emily Rigney (Danville, Ky.) led the Lady Buffs with her hot hand serving three aces. Senior Alyssa Graber (Montgomery, Ind.) led the Lady Buffs in digs with 21.

“The team stayed focused tonight, which kept us in the game,” said Milligan College Coach Kim Hyatt. “We played very well on defense, and our offense put the ball down hard. The fans also did a great job of keeping us fired up.”

The Lady Buffs host a tri-match Saturday, Sept. 15, starting at 1 p.m. at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse against North Greenville University. The Lady Buffs then play the University of the Cumberlands at 5 p.m.
