Lady Buffs keep win streak alive
Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2007) --- The Lady Buffs continued to win Saturday at home, against AAC conference opponent Covenant College. The Lady Buff won the first two games of the series, lost the third and then sealed the deal in the fourth.
The first game was close for the Lady Buffs as they squeaked by the Lady Scots, 32-30. The second game was more one sided for the Lady Buffs as they won 30-10. As the Lady Scots were near defeat they battled back and won the third game of the set 30-26. The Lady Buffs got down to business though, winning the fourth game 30-28.
Leading the offense was Freshman Ashley Welch (Waynesville, N.C.) who had 12 kills on the day. Welch also tallied 20 digs. Assisting the attack was freshman Erin Biddle (Newport, Tenn.) with 40 set assists. Biddle served seven aces and had 18 digs on the afternoon for the Lady Buffs.
Defensively freshman Ellyn Sapp (Johnson City, Tenn.) led the way with 31 digs. Also on defense, Freshman Emilee Hale (Morristown, Tenn.) set the pace at the net with four blocks.
“We were able to go to the bench today and use the entire team,” said Milligan College Coach Kim Hyatt. “We stayed focused on the goals we had set before the game and accomplished the win that we needed.”
The Lady Buffs travel to Montreat College for another conference match up Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m.
