Henriksson named Newcomer of the Year, six Lady Buffs named to All-Conference Team Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 11, 2008) ---Six members of the Milligan College women's soccer team were named to the All-Conference Team on Monday, while freshman forward Nine Henriksson (Goteborg, Sweden) was also named as the Newcomer of the Year.
Henrikkson was the leading scoring for the Lady Buffs with 13 goals.
“Nine has been a big player for us all year and it's great to see her get the recognition she deserves with the freshman of the year award,” said Head Coach Lisa Buckley .
Senior goalkeeper Rosanna Couture (Oakville, Canada) and Henriksson were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman defender Erin Brewer (Brownsburg, Ind.) and sophomore midfielder Becca Mauldin (Hunstville, Ala.) were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Senior forward Samantha McClay (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and freshman midfielder Rachel Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) were named to the All-Conference Third Team.
Couture, McClay, junior Kelley Foster (Johnson City, Tenn.) and sophomore Stephanie Bain (Morristown, Tenn.) were named to the All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.25 GPA.
“I'm really pleased that so many of our girls were honored this year,” said Buckley. “It's a great testament to the growth of our program.”
The Lady Buffs will play in the semifinals of the AAC tournament hosted by King College on Friday, Nov. 14, at 11:30 a.m. against Covenant College.
