Desiree Robinson scored a goal for the Lady Scots in the 19th minute after the Lady Buffs had trouble clearing the ball out of the goalie box. The Lady Buffs fought tough and held strong throughout the rest of the first half, leaving the score 1-0 in favor of the Lady Scots at halftime.
It was a close one goal game until Kalie Estrada scored the second goal for the Lady Scots in the 72nd minute. Caitlin Ezell scored the final goal in the 81st minute, securing the victory for the Lady Scots.
Senior goalkeeper Rosanna Couture (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) had an exceptional last game playing for the Lady Buffs, making five saves. Freshman Britta Widenhouse (Lake Wylie, S.C.) also had a strong showing for the Lady Buffs in the midfield.
“We came out flat and that hurt us,” said Head Coach Lisa Buckley. “It was tough because as a young team we need to learn how to handle being in a high pressure situation like that.”
