Running Buffs receive multiple awards

Milligan College, Tenn. (Dec. 2, 2008) ---Three members of the Milligan College cross country team were named 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athletes and one was named a 2008 NAIA Cross Country All-American.  To qualify to be a Scholar-Athlete, athletes must maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average and have achieved junior academic status.  To be an All-American, runners must finish within the top 30 individual places at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships.

On the men's side, freshman Austin Ellis (Charlottesville, Va.) was named an All-American and senior Will Frye (Pulaski, Va.) was named a Scholar-Athlete.  Ellis was the first Buff to cross the line at the 2008 NAIA Cross Country National Championships, becoming an All-American for placing 15th and setting the school record of 24:55 in the process.  Frye has been another valuable member of the Buffs, running in the number four spot consistently throughout his senior season.  At the NAIA Cross Country National Championships, Frye placed 162nd in a personal best time of 26:35.  Frye is a psychology major at Milligan.

On the women's side, senior Kim Hogan (Springfield, Va.) and junior Shanna Raines (Johnson City, Tenn.) were named Scholar-Athletes.  Hogan finished up her senior season with a 14th place finish at the AAC Championships in a personal best time of 20:20.  Hogan is a math major at Milligan.  Raines ran to a 13th place finish in a personal best time of 19:56 at the AAC Championships.  Raines is a communications major at Milligan.
