Buffs place seven on All-AAC teams
Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2009) --- The Milligan College men’s soccer team was well represented on the AAC awards list, as voted on by the coaches.
Senior goal keeper Bryan Newbold (Sylva, N.C.) was named first team All-AAC as he recorded 80 saves during his senior campaign finishing tied for second in the league. Joining Newbold on the first team, were senior midfielder Philip Wilson (Middlesbrough, England) and sophomore Andrew Stewart (New Castle upon Tyne, England). Wilson finished the season second in goals scored in the conference (15), while Stewart was a key member of the Buffs defense. Newbold, Wilson and Stewart were all AAC Players of the Week this past season.
Grabbing the second team All-AAC honors for the Buffs were sophomore Sandre Wilson (Mandeville, Jamaica) and senior Joshua Scott (London, England). Rounding out the awards were sophomore Zigga Wright (Clarendon, Jamaica) and sophomore Nahom Tekle (Louisville, Ky.) on the third team.
After winning the AAC regular season title, the Milligan men are the host for this year’s AAC tournament. Action begins Friday, Nov. 13, with semifinal matchups beginning at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Buffs will play the 7 p.m. game against Montreat (N.C.) College.
