Milligan softball announces early signees

Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2009) --- The Milligan College softball team has signed four women for the 2010-11 season, as announced by Head Coach Wes Holly.  

The Lady Buffs have received commitments from Maryville High’s Chancli Connatser, Cherokee High’s Courtney Davis, Knox Fulton’s Krista Lambdin and Knox Central’s Maleah Wolfenbarger.  


Connatser, a pitcher, finished with an ERA of 1.84 with 254 strikeouts in 119 innings of work. Offensively, she boasted a batting average of .323 with 16 RBIs.   

During her prep career, Connatser was an All-District, All-District Tournament and an All-State Tournament selection, along with being named the All-District Tournament MVP. The Lady Rebels MVP, Connatser was also a two-time Player of the Week for Blount Today.   

Chancli is the daughter of Sam and Kari Connatser of Maryville, Tenn., and plans to study law with a minor in education and foreign language while at Milligan.


Davis, a middle infielder, holds a career fielding percentage of .910 for the Lady Chiefs. In 2009, Davis had 115 at-bats and carried a .330 batting average as she also drove in 23 runs.  

Davis is a two-time All-Intermountain Conference selection and was a part of the 2008 ASA 18U National Qualifier. Davis and the Knoxville Thunder placed second place Memorial Day tournament a year ago. 

Courtney is the daughter of Danny and Lesa Davis of Rogersville, Tenn., and plans on majoring in education at Milligan. 


Lambdin, an outfielder, was the Lady Falcons’ leadoff batter last season had had a .424 batting average for the year. In 2009, Lambdin hit 12 doubles and five triples, while only striking out four times. Defensively, Lambdin has a fielding percentage of .975.   

In both her sophomore and junior seasons she was named to the All-District and the All-District Tournament teams. 

Krista is the daughter of Vince and Tammie Lambdin of Knoxville, Tenn., and plans on majoring in nursing at Milligan. 


Wolfenbarger, also a middle infielder, had a team high 34 RBIs from last spring. Out of 105 at-bats, Wolfenbarger had a batting average of .362 and an on-base percentage of .410. Defensively, Wolfenbarger holds a fielding percentage of .970 with only three errors.   

As a junior, Wolfenbarger was an integral part of the Lady Bobcats squad that won the district championships and were the runners-up at the regional championships. Wolfenbarger and the Lady Bobcats went on to place seventh in the state that year. She was elected to the All-District team and was named defensive player of the year. Earlier this season, Wolfenbarger was awarded the Wendy’s Heisman Award for her performance on the field.  

Maleah is the daughter of Scott and Julie Wolfenbarger of Knoxville, Tenn., and plans on majoring in nursing at Milligan. 

“I am very pleased to have each of these women join our program,” commented Holly. “These are great additions to an already solid core group of talent. I feel that getting players of this caliber will maintain the strength of our program for the next several years.”
