Buffs cruise to victory
Milligan College, Tenn. (April 20, 2008) --- The Milligan College men's baseball team swept West Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at Anglin Field. The Buffs won the first contest 8-1 and the second 1-0.
Senior Jon Stoudt (Marietta, Ga.) started on the hill for the Buffs and secured the win in front of the home crowd. Stoudt pitched five innings while he only gave up one run. Offensively, the Buffs were led by junior Brian Busby (Lexington, S.C.) who went 3-4 at the plate. Sophomore Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.), senior Drew Anders (Johnson City, Tenn.), and sophomore Dallas Crouch (Jefferson City, Tenn.) all had two hits for the Buffs. Morgan had a three-run home run for the Buffs during the first game.
Freshman Keith Fenner (Chilhowie, Va.) started the second game and pitched six innings for the Buffs and allowed no runs. Sophomore Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) is credited with the win during the nightcap. Caldwell came in the game to relieve Fenner in the seventh inning. Junior Justin Motte ( Johnson City, Tenn.) and junior Spencer Street (Johnson City, Tenn.) led Milligan at the plate during the second game as they both went 2-3.
The Buffs travel back to UVA-Wise Monday, April 21, to finish their AAC match-up that was rained out Saturday afternoon. The single game starts at 5 p.m. The Buffs then host Brevard College Wednesday, April 23. The double-header begins at 5 p.m.
