Owen High standout signs with Buffs

Milligan College, Tenn. (May 15, 2008) --- Ian McVay, a 6-foot-5 forward from Black Mountain Owen High School (N.C.) has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College and play basketball for the Buffaloes. Milligan head coach Tony Wallingford made the announcement.

As a senior, McVay averaged 16.5 points and 7 rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Western Highlands Conference and All-Western Highlands Conference Tournament Teams. McVay also received HM All-Western North Carolina honors and was selected to play in the Western North Carolina Blue-White All Star Game. McVay was one of the top free throw shooters in the Western North Carolina region hitting 85 percent from the line.

“Ian is a nice fit for Milligan College and our program," said Wallingford. He's got good size for a perimeter and is versatile enough to play inside as well. He's got good skills and possesses high potential. Ian is an outstanding student and a quality young man.”

McVay joins a Milligan team coming off back to back 20-plus win seasons.

McVay plans a major in human performance and exercise science at Milligan.
