Snow slows down Buffs

Lookout Mountain, Ga. (March 24, 2008) --- The Milligan College men's golf team endured snow and winds up to 30 m.p.h. Monday at the Covenant Invitational. The 36-hole event was played at Lookout Mountain Golf Club.

The Buffs were led by junior Jay Bernhardt (Johnston City, Ill.) (84/85 = 169) and junior Michael Woods (Knoxville, Tenn.) (83/86 = 169). Freshman Ben Reno (Plainfield, Ind.) was next for the Buffs (85/86 = 171), while senior Grayson Patton (Fries, Va.) rounded out the top four (87/87 = 174).

Despite the rough conditions, the Buffs finished third in the invitational with a total of 683 (339/344) over two rounds. The home team, Covenant College, won their own tournament with a final of 632.

“It was 36 holes with weather not getting out of the 30's,” said Patton. “We had an hour snow delay to start off the day, and it really didn't let up. Today was more survival than anything, but these are the conditions that we must play through to be prepared for the post season.”

The Buffs travel to Bristol, Tenn., for the King College Invitational Tuesday, April 1. The King College Invitational is a 36-hole event played in one day and is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
