Science Hill's Songster signs with Milligan College

Johnson City, Tenn. (Mar. 20, 2008) --- Jared Songster (Jonesborough, Tenn.), a standout golfer for the Science Hill Hilltoppers has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College. Head Coach Tony Wallingford announced that Songster will play golf for the Buffs.

Songster was an All-Conference and All-District selection as a junior and helped the Hilltoppers to a runner-up finish in the Tennessee AAA state championships. He shot an impressive 72/77 in the 36 hole championship event. As a senior, Songster helped lead Science Hill to the 2007 conference and district championships. The Hilltoppers finished second in the region at Morristown Country Club where he recorded a 18 hole score of 78.

Songster joins a Milligan program that is coming off its most successful season in school history. The Buffs won the conference and NAIA Region XII championships last year advancing all the way to the NAIA National Tournament held at Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, Ind.

Milligan coach Tony Wallingford is happy to have Songster join the Buffs.

“We're excited to have Jared coming aboard. He'll be counted on right away to contribute. Jared has a lot of potential and is a hard worker. I believe he will have a great career at Milligan. He's an outstanding student and a quality young man making him a solid fit for Milligan and our golf program,” Wallingford concluded.

Songster plans a major in business. He is the son of Jack and Cheryl Songster of Jonesborough.
