Wallingford among nation's elite
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (May 9, 2008) — Milligan College men's basketball Head Coach Tony Wallingford has a long and illustrious career resulting in many conference, regional and national honors and awards. Wallingford now stands 14th on the National Intercollegiate Athletics Association Winningest Active Coaches honor roll.
Coach Wallingford, in his 25th year as a collegiate head coach and 20th season at the helm of the Milligan basketball program. He is Milligan's All-Time winningest coach with 541 wins in 25 seasons.
Wallingford is a four-time Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Coach of the Year and has led the Buffs to seven conference titles and two NAIA National Tournament appearances, including one "Sweet Sixteen" appearance. Wallingford's Milligan teams have compiled twelve 20-plus win seasons. Wallingford's seven conference championships rank him #1 among all AAC coaches. During his tenure, the men's basketball team has been ranked among the NAIA's top 25 six times.
