Lady Buffs advance to semi-finals
White Top Creek Park, Tenn. (Apr. 30, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs started the AAC Tournament this afternoon and defeated Montreat College in the first game 3-1. In the second game the Lady Buffs defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 4-0.

The Lady Buffs started the game out strong on both sides of the ball. Starting on the mound for the Lady Buffs was Sydney Burns (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). She pitched a complete game and allowed only one earned run. Jessica Blevins (Watauga, Tenn.) was strong at the plate and recorded two key hits for the Lady Buffs. Laken Stewart (Pennington Gap, Va.) hit a homerun and recorded two RBIs for the Lady Buffs. The Lady Buffs were able to record their three runs on seven hits.
Game 2 Milligan 4 Tennessee Wesleyan 0
The Lady Buffs dominated on defense allowing starting pitcher Burns to pitch a shut out. Burns only allowed two hits throughout the seven innings. She also contributed at the plate recording two hits for the Lady Buffs. Blevins had another great performance at the plate batting 1-for-3 and hitting a homerun. Heather Poindexter (Germanton, N.C.) was a perfect 1-for-1 at the plate, while Sarah Smith (Elizabethton, Tenn.) recorded two hits with one of them being a homerun. Again the Lady Buffs were able to score their four runs on seven hits.
This victory against Tennessee Wesleyan not only moves the Lady Buffs into the semi-finals, but it also gave Head Coach Wes Holly his 600th career victory.
“I am proud of the girls and the effort that they have shown,” commented Holly. “We have great momentum going into the semi-finals tomorrow and we will look to continue our great play.”
