Lady Buffs split with Crusaders

Tigersville, S.C. (Mar. 24, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs softball team played a close first game with the Crusaders of North Greenville, but falling short 1-2. In the second game the Lady Buffs dominated and took a commanding lead to defeat the Crusaders 8-1.

Game 1 Milligan 1 North Greenville 2

The Lady Buffs started the game with Sidney Burns (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) on the mound. Burns pitched for six innings allowing only two earned runs. Burns also struck out an impressive 11 batters.

The Lady Buffs recorded one run on two hits. Jessica Blevins (Watauga, Tenn.) batted 2-for-3. Sarah Smith (Elizabethton, Tenn.) went 1-for-4 from the plate. Leah White (Fall Branch, Tenn.) and Jessica Russell (New Market, Tenn.) both went 1-for-3 for the Lady Buffs.

Game 2 Milligan 8 North Greenville 1

Sidney Burns (Ft. Lauderdale, Tenn.) pitched the first three innings for the Lady Buffs. Burns get credited with the win. Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn .) came in to finish the game and gets credited with the save. Musick gave up one hit on four hits and had two strikeouts.

The Lady Buffs scored eight runs on 10 hits. Leah White (Fall Branch, Tenn. ) and Laken Stewart (Pennington Gap, Va.) both hit homeruns for the Lady Buffs. Sarah Smith (Elizabethton, Tenn.) went 1-for-4 at the plate and Jessica Blevins (New Market, Tenn.) went 2-for-3.

The Lady Buffs will have a busy and competitive week ahead of them as they start conference play.
