Lady Buffs win big

Milligan College, Tenn. (April 10, 2008) ---The Lady Buffs tennis team had a good day with a 7-2 win over Emory and Henry College . The Milligan women won two out of three doubles matches and six out of seven singles matches.

Caitlin Conely (Bristol, Tenn.) and Jessie Rose Remegi (Hilton Head, S.C.) won their doubles match 8-2. Janie Mullins (Greenville, Ala.) and Laura Bowman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) defeated their opponents 8-3.

In singles action, Melissa Grgat (Melbourne, Australia) (6-2, 6-0), Conley (6-4, 6-2), Sarah Hopson (Greeneville, Tenn.) (6-4, 6-2), Mullins (6-3, 6-4), and Kelley Yates (Indianapolis, Ind.) (6-0, 6-0) all made convincing wins.

Head Coach Ron Worrell stated, “We started out good, winning two out of three doubles matches. We had many close matches but the girls gutted it out; they have a good team and we respect their program. This was a good win going into our next two conference matches.”

The Lady Buffs resume conference action against Covenant College on April 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
