Virginia All-State standout Hughes headed to Milligan
Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2008) --- Milligan College head coach Chris Layne announced this week that Christiansburg High School senior Caleb Hughes (Christiansburg, Va.) will run cross country and track for the Buffaloes starting next Fall.
Hughes, a standout for Coach Shane Guynn's Blue Demons, earned Virginia all-state honors in the mile and finished 27th at the 2007 Virginia State Cross Country Championships. Last September he finished fifth in the senior race at the Foot Locker South Championships in a 5k personal best time of 16:08.
The son of Craig and Katha Hughes, he plans to major in communications with an emphasis on film. Hughes is active in the youth group and youth choir at Main Street Baptist Church as well as the Christiansburg High School theatre department.
"Caleb is another outstanding addition to our 2008-2009 recruiting class,” said Layne. “He brings a focus on both academics and athletics that we certainly welcome at Milligan."
