Lady Buffs win four event; Bales runs to national mark
Milligan College, Tenn. (Apr. 27, 2008) --- The Milligan College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Radford, Va. Saturday with a limited squad for the Radford Invitational at the Patrick D. Cupp Track and Field Stadium.
Milligan junior All-American Jacklyn Talbert (Mt Carmel, Tenn.) picked up two wins on the day to lead Milligan's women. Talbert won the 1,500 meters earlier in the day with a time of 4:42.34, then came back to win the women's 5,000 meters in 18:38.65. Senior Brittany Bales (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished second in the women's 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 4:45.61, which also qualifies her for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in St. Louis, Mo, in late May.
Senior All-American MacKenzie LaBonte (Port Charlotte, Fla.) dominated the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase, while sophomore Shanna Raines (Johnson City, Tenn.) won the women's 800 meters in a new personal best time of 2:23.58.
Freshman Lili Zaldana (Bristol, Tenn.) finished third in the women's 5,000 meters, while junior All-American Nicole Moore (Boise, Idaho) finished fourth.
Freshman Chelsea Leavell (Springfield, Tenn.) finished seventh in the women's shot put and fourth in the discus throw, while freshman Mike Kimson (Elizabethton, Tenn.) finished fourth in the men's discus.
