Milligan loses at Carson-Newman
Jefferson City, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2008) --- The Milligan College men's baseball team held tight with NCAA Division II Carson Newman Thursday through six innings, but lost the ball game 14-5.
Six different pitchers saw action for the Buffs, but Senior Jon Stoudt (Marietta, Ga.) suffered the loss.
Sophomore Dallas Crouch (Jefferson City, Tenn.) led the Buffs offensively at the plate hitting 3-5, chalked up a run, and one RBI. Freshman Weston Pearson (Swanannoa, N.C.) went 3-4 at the plate with three runs scored, while junior Ryan Jamison (Somerset, Ky.) went 2-4.
“We played good through six innings, with the game tied, but they came out and scored four runs in the seventh and eighth which hurt,” said Head Coach Nathan Meade. “We hit the ball well and we got a few runs, but we just were not able to close the game. We hope to build off the first six innings and play well this weekend.”
The Buffs host Montreat College Saturday, March 1. The first game of the double-header is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
