Milligan downed Johnson Bible
Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2008) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team made the most of their second half run, to put away the Preachers of Johnson Bible College Monday night in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. The Buffs won the contest 96-65.
Milligan shot 55 percent from the field, while Johnson shot just one percent less at 54 percent. The difference in the game was that Milligan took 78 shots, opposed to Johnson's 48 shots. Milligan also forced 28 turnovers, while they only committed 13.
Junior Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) led the way for the Buffs offensively with 27 points and nine rebounds in only 21 minutes of play. Freshman Isaiah Harris (Nashville, Tenn.) was next in the pecking order with 18 points, on eight of nine shooting. Freshman Davis Warner (Smyrna, Tenn.) chipped in eight points and also dished out seven assists. Junior Tyler Estepp (Limestone, Tenn.) recorded eight points, as well as five assists.
“We did some good things, but still only in spurts,” said Milligan College Head Coach Tony Wallingford . “We are striving for consistency, especially on the defensive end. Johnson did some nice things in the ball game; they shot the ball well and spread the floor. Our run in the second half allowed us to open up the game. We are going to continue to improve and be prepared for tournament time.”
The Buffs host the UVA-Wise for their final home game of the season Tuesday, Feb. 19, in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
