Buffs win two
Milligan College, Tenn. (Jan. 7, 2008) --- The No. 22 Milligan College men's basketball team (12-2, 3-1) had a successful weekend, defeating Southeastern Bible College on Friday, Jan. 4, 106-70 and Berea College of Ky. on Saturday, Jan. 5, by a score of 91-63.
Milligan shot 61.2% (41-67) from the field against Southeastern Bible College. The Buffs had three players in double figures Friday night. Leading scorer for the night was junior Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) with 26 points and six rebounds. Friday night was a historical one for Barnes as he surpassed the 1,000 point mark on his career. Barnes was just 15 points shy of the mark going into Friday's game.
Other scorers for Friday's game were sophomore Derrick Nave (Elizabethton, Tenn.) with 20 points and sophomore Danny McKeehan (Morrow, Ohio) with 12 points. Junior point-guard Tyler Estepp (Limestone, Tenn.) dished out 11 assists in the contest, recorded four steals, and knocked down eight points.
Barnes followed up his big night on Friday with another impressive performance on Saturday scoring 23 points, pulling down four rebounds, and tallying four assists. McKeehan was next in the pecking order with 21 points, nine assists, and four rebounds. Nave also chipped in 10 points to round out the Buffs double figure crew.
The No. 22 ranked Buffs take on the Lions of Bryan College for AAC action Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. The Buffs also play host to the Scots of Covenant College Saturday, Jan. 12, at 4 p.m.
