Lady Buffs unbustle the Tornadoes

Brevard, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs softball team has gotten on a roll. They swept Brevard College 2-1 in the first game and then 6-3 in the final game.

The Lady Buffs had another flawless game as they played a close first game with the Tornadoes. The Lady Buffs had eight hits, with two batters performing well. Jessica Blevins (Watauga, Tenn.) batted 2-for-3. Jessica Russell (New Market, Tenn.) also hit well for the Lady Buffs, going 2-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Buffs.

Kayla Walker (Tracy, Calif.) got the start for the Lady Buffs on the mound. Walker pitched three innings giving up two hits and the lone run that the Tornadoes scored. Sidney Burns (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) is credited with the win as she struck out six batters. Burns pitched the final six innings for the Lady Buffs.
 

Game 2 Milligan 6 Brevard 3

The bats got hotter for both teams in this second game. The Lady Buffs recorded 11 hits and six runs. Leah White (Fall Branch, Tenn.) and Ellyn Sapp (Johnson City, Tenn.) led the way for the Lady Buffs. Both batted 2-for-4 and knocked in two runners. Jessica Blevins (Watauga, Tenn.) also went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Lady Buffs. Sarah Smith (Elizabethton, Tenn.) hit in one run for the Lady Buffs, while going 1-for-3 from the plate.

Ryann Musick (Elizabethton, Tenn.) got the start for the Lady Buffs and allowed two earned runs off of four hits in two innings of work. Kayla Walker (Tracy, Calif.) relieved Musick and pitched the remaining of the game. Walker gave up two hits and one earned run.

“The girls played well and our pitching is performing strong,” commented Head Coach Wes Holly.

The Lady Buffs softball team will be back in action February 26, when the travel to Tigersville, S.C., to face North Greenville University. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
