Lady Buffs fight but Bulldogs prevail

Bristol, Tenn. (Feb. 29, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs women's basketball team fell to the Lady Bulldogs of Union College in the second round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament at Viking Hall in Bristol, Tenn. by a margin of 67-76.

The third ranked Lady Buffs fought to the end against a talented second seed but just came up short. Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) contributed 22 points while Rikki Buaghman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) scored 10 points and snatched 10 rebounds.

Holding Lady Bulldog, and Tournament Player of the Year, Brooke Smith to only 10 points for the entire encounter was not enough to overcome the tenacious defense of Union.  

It's a disappointing end for a great team and a great season,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “The ladies played very hard but they are a good team.”
