Lady Buffs continue hot streak
Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs have now improved their winning streak to nine, as the defeated Bluefield College 78-73.
The Lady Buffs have been in close games, the last few they have played, but they have managed to find players that step up. Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) has continued to perform strong for the Lady Buffs contributing 16 points to be the leading scorer. Despite battling an illness Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) managed to still have an impact on the game.
Mandela finished the game with 14 points and seven rebounds. Kara Monk (Oliver Springs, Tenn.) rounded out the players in double digits with 10 points, but it was her three-pointer that she hit that changed the momentum of the game. Brit White (Chuckey, Tenn.) hit two three pointers that were key shots in the game, but it was her distribution of the ball that allowed her to compile seven assists for the Lady Buffs.
“Bluefield is a much better team now than what they were in December and I give them credit for being able to hit 14 three pointers,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Our bench provided us with great energy and assistance in extending the lead.”
The Lady Buffs will travel to Dayton, Tenn. to face conference foe Bryan College and try to increase their winning streak to double figures. The game is set for February 9, at 5:30 p.m.
