Lady Buffs trample on to next round

Viking Hall, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs women's basketball team were dominate throughout the entire game, leading 49-27 at half-time, and then finishing 92-62 to defeat Bryan College in the first round of the AAC tournament.

The Lady Buffs had many players contribute to their final score. Freshman standout and strong competitor Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) led the way for the Lady Buffs with 16 points and eight rebounds. Local sensation and consistent performer Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) had another strong performance. The guard play was outstanding for the Lady Buffs from start to finish. Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) came out with a hot hand and drained three three-pointers. Brittany Kilgore (Kingsport, Tenn.) also hit a few key three-pointers for the Lady Buffs. Brit White (Chuckey, Tenn.) distributed the ball well and assisted in the score, with 13 points. Lydia Oliver (Bel Air, Md.) also got the opportunity to make her presence felt on the court, along with Rose Pezzimenti (Johnson City, Tenn.) who came in and it a couple big shots for the Lady Buffs.

“Overall it was a balanced attack and several players contributed to the win,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “This was a good start to the tournament, but will have a challenge in tomorrow's game against Union College.

The Lady Buffs will face Union College in the second round of the tournament February 29, at 4 p.m.
