Three-pointers lift Lady Buffs to victory

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Jan. 12, 2008) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team led throughout against the Covenant College Lady Scots. The home team continued their recent success, and now stands at (8-10, 5-1).

A host of Lady Buffs contributed to leave the Lady Scots dazed as the half-time ended with a double-digit difference of 40-27. Brittany Kilgore (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Sarah Muniz (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) both hit the target from beyond the arch consistently.

Kilgore continued to wreak havoc on the Lady Scots defense with her accurate three-point shooting that contributed to her overall point's total of 14. The Lady Scots would not go down without a fight and pulled within ten of the Lady Buffs during the second-half.

Local standout Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) turned the tide back in favor of the home team contributing 4 vital steals and 22 points. Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) accumulated 17 points and 11 rebounds to seal the victory.       

“This is a good win against a tough, quick and aggressive defense” said Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Our offensive balance, post play and three pointers' were pivotal in this win. This keeps us in a good position in the conference, and we look forward to the next home game.”

The Lady Buffs will remain at home for their next conference clash. They will face Union College on Jan 15. The tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
