Lady Buffs crush Cavaliers

Lookout Mtn., Ga. (Feb. 23, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs women's basketball team defeated the Lady Cavaliers of Montreat College by a margin of 90-74 to end the regular season on a high and enter the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) tournament as the no. 3 seed.

Ending the first half with a 12-2 run for the Lady Buffs put the encounter beyond question in favor of the visitors. The Lady Cavaliers tried to respond early in the second half but four Lady Buffs cumulated impressive figures. Leading the stampede was Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) with 18 points and 19 rebounds for the evening while Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) contributed a team high 28 points.

Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) and Kara Monk (Oliver Springs, Tenn.) both had pivotal roles in the victory scoring 10 points each.

“This was a great way to finish the season,” commented Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “We've regained some momentum and we are looking forward to the tournament.”
