MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Jan. 26, 2008) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team finished on a 15 to 4 run, in order to overcome a 12 point deficit and defeat conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan 81-71.
The Lady Buffs have now improved their conference record to 9-1 with this tough win on the road. The overall record for the Lady Buffs is 12-10.
Leading scorer Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) had 19 points and 6 rebounds. Brittany Kilgore (Kingsport, Tenn.) was the team's second leading scorer with 18 points. The strong freshman standout Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) pulled off a double-double, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
“This game showed the kind of character this team has,” stated Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “Having the determination and will to make a 12 point deficit comeback and win by 10 says a lot about this team. This was a big road win in the conference for us.”
The Lady Buffs will look to continue their strong play as they will host conference opponent Virginia Intermont at the Lacy Field House on the Milligan College campus. The game is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m., on January 30.
