Post players lift Lady Buffs

Milligan College, Tenn. (Jan. 30, 2008) --- Lady Buffs faced a tough physical battle against Virginia Intermont but overcame adversity to defeat the Cobras 85-74.

The Lady Buffs led by three at half-time and were being out rebounded. It was sophomore hometown guard Renee Ensor (Elizabethton, Tenn.) that hit her only three point attempt of the night to give the Lady Buffs a five point lead and the momentum. Ensor finished the game with four points. Another hometown player that had a tremendous game was Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman standout Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) also contributed to the success inside the paint as she scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Lady Buffs. Junior Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) also had a big game for the Lady Buffs with 16 points. Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) had a great night distributing the ball, as she dished out 5 assists to lead the Lady Buffs. Anderson scored 9 points and had 7 rebounds.

“The post played well and the wings did a great job distributing the ball inside to us,” commented Baughman.

“This was a tougher game than the initial match up, simply for the fact that both teams had all their players tonight healthy,” stated Head Coach Rich Aubrey . “We were able to grind it out tonight and execute the game plan. We also were able to make a few half-time adjustments that contributed with getting rebounds.”

Next for the Lady Buffs is a road trip to conference rival King College. The game is set for 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 2. The game will be played in Bristol, Tenn.
