Teamwork lifts Lady Buffs to victory
Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2008) --- The Lady Buffs women's basketball team stepped up the level of play in the second half to defeat UVA-Wise 82-72.
The entire team contributed in one way or another to the victory. Having the team's only double-double Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) led the way for the Lady Buffs with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Shooting an impressive 72 percent from the field was Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) scoring 12 points and five rebounds. Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.) scored 12 points for the Lady Buffs. Both Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn ) and Renee Ensor (Elizabethton, Tenn.) had an outstanding night dishing out the ball. Sparks led the team with six assists and scored seven points. Ensor compiled five assists and added nine points to the Lady Buffs score. Ensor was the team's second leading rebounder with six.
“This was a great win and I am proud of our team effort,” stated Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “The energy level that we brought was great and we showed a lot of team effort tonight.”
The Lady Buffs will end their regular season, before the AAC tournament, on Saturday, February 23. The will travel to Montreat, N.C. to face Montreat College. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
