Buffs split with Lions

Dayton , Tenn. (March 10, 2008) --- The Milligan College baseball team spilt with Bryan College Monday afternoon on the road. The Buffs lost the first 6-1, but battled back to win the nightcap 5-1.

Senior Nathan Fritz (Kingsport, Tenn.) threw seven innings, faced 31 batters, and suffered the loss. Fritz walked two and struck out four, while he scattered seven hits. Fritz gave up three earned runs on the afternoon. At the plate, sophomore Dallas Crouch (Jefferson City, Tenn.) led the Buffs going 3-4, including a solo shot.

The second game was more promising for the Buffs. Junior Michael Dillow (Gray, Tenn.) pitched six innings and secured the win. Dillow struck out three, walked one, and gave up one earned run. Freshman Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) recorded the save on one inning of work with one strike out. Junior Spencer Street (Johnson City, Tenn.) and junior Ryan Jamison (Somerset, Ky.) led the Buffs at the plate both going 2-4, with two RBIs and one run.

“We struggled early on during the first game, but we found a rhythm for the final game,” said Milligan College Head Coach Nathan Meade . “We hope to take what we learned from the second game and build upon it, and continue to improve.”

The Buffs travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to take on Cumberland University Tuesday, March, 11. The double-header is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
