Buffs win season opener
Elizabethton, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2009) --- The Milligan College baseball team won their season opener Saturday, 4-3, over the Eagles of Lambuth University.
Junior Colin Duffie (Calhoun, Ga.) earned the win for the Buffs in six innings of work. Duffie scattered three hits and struck out two batters. Junior Aaron Dorriety (Pickens, S.C.) pitched two scoreless innings for the Buffs, while sophomore Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) earned the save.
At the plate, senior Brandon Murphy (Johnson City, Tenn.) went 3-3 at the plate with an RBI. Sophomore Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) opened up the Buffs scoring as he went 2-3 on the day including two stolen bases.
“It's good to get the first win out of the way,” said Head Coach Nathan Meade . “We executed our game plan well; Duffie won the game for us.”
Milligan faces off against Lambuth University Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Elizabethton Twins Stadium. The double-header is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
